Dominic Storey

Current Supercar driver and Bathurst Supercar lap record holder David Reynolds will head experienced Kiwi and last years runner up in the Australian Endurance Championship Dominic Storey as well as car owner and experienced amateur Mark Griffith for the 2017 Bathurst 12 hour onboard the Griffith owned AMG GT3.

Griffith has put together a strong team and although it is not an Erebus entry it does have familiar faces from the Erebus GT team.

“Having Davey (Reynolds) and Dom join me for the Bathurst 12 hour gives the team youth and experience, Davey is a proven racer and has shown that at Bathurst both in the Supercar and the old SLS with Erebus. Dom brings youth and speed as he drove the same car (AMG GT3) to 2nd place in last years Australian Championship as well as a podium at Phillip Island that had a similar calibre field as the 12 hour, I think this will really help us extract the speed in the car and myself throughout the weekend” - Griffith said.

Reynold’s has a huge amount of experience at Bathurst including last years Bathurst 12 hour where he lined up in the Erebus SLS AMG with German AMG stars Thomas Jaeger and Nico Bastian finishing 5th overall. Reynold’s is excited to race the latest AMG GT3 for the first time at Mount Panorama in early February.

“I drove Mark’s (Griffith) car earlier in the year when he shook it down for the first time, they are amazing cars to drive and a definite step up from the SLS I raced last year. I cannot thank him enough for this opportunity, hopefully we can bring a good result overall and win our class” - says Reynolds.

Storey, a former single seater racer in Europe having run in GP3 in 2011 finished second in last years inaugural Australian Endurance Championship alongside Peter Hackett in the Eggleston Motorsport run AMG GT3. A podium at the Phillip Island 101, lap record at Hampton Downs 101 and fastest lap at Highlands 101 proved Storey has the speed to run at the front consistently, alongside some of the best GT and V8 drivers in the world.

“I have to thank my loyal sponsors, especially Autex and also Mark (Griffith) for giving me this opportunity at the last minute, I had originally planned to remain in the car I drove last year with Peter Hackett, however when that door closed another opened and I quickly jumped at the opportunity to drive alongside Mark and Dave Reynolds. My priority was to remain in an AMG for the 12 hour and to drive alongside Dave will give me the reference I need at a place like Bathurst. Mark is very enthusiastic and professional in his approach and I believe every box will be ticked in the lead up so that we can have a smooth run and hopefully be at the pointy end from the first session” - Storey stated.

The campaign is supported by Autex, Hogs Breath Cafe, Daimler Trucks Newcastle, Saint.CC, Sensory Lab, Vawdrey and Griffith Corporation.
